Lent Course – Starting March 6th

We are running  6 sessions from the Prayer Course as our Benefice Lent Course.  These will run in a similar style to The Bible Course that we did together in the Autumn last year on Thursday nights (7.30pm) for six weeks, starting the day after Ash Wednesday.
Dates:  March 6, 13, 20, 27  April 3, 10

If you’d like to look at some details of the course ahead of time then please look at www.prayercourse.org

It’s not necessary to buy a book for this course, and there are plenty of free resources on the prayer course website.  However, if you are interested you might find Pete Greig’s book “How to Pray” a useful accompaniment.

Advance Notice: A Benefice Passover Meal for Christians

Tuesday 15th April starting at 6.30p.m in Little Weighton Village Hall.

This special meal aims to show the context in which Jesus celebrated his Last Supper with his disciples. That meal was part of the Jewish festival of the Passover, a time of retelling and giving thanks for God’s faithfulness, and remembering the covenant God had made with Israel. The Bible tells us that it was in this context that Jesus washed his disciples’ feet, gave them a new commandment to love and serve as he did and then shared bread and wine with them, making it a sign of the new covenant God made in Jesus’ life, death and resurrection.

So we’ll begin with songs, Bible readings and some of the Jewish prayers and customs of the Passover meal, then we eat a meal of roast lamb with wine (veggie and non-alcoholic alternatives are available, please indicate below) and recall Jesus’ own actions after the meal. It is a mix of worship and feasting.

It is important for the catering that we know who is coming, all are welcome, please photocopy the form and pass it on to anyone who may be interested. Please return the form, or put your details in writing, with cash in an envelope for the correct amount £12.50 adults, £2.00 under18s to Jeanette or Ruth.

For further information ring Jeanette 845323 or Ruth 841875.
